We dont have to have an exact plan of the expierment we just need an outline procedure of what you are going to do, listed point by point. What exactly am I doing when listing possible confounds? Is that what you think will happen with the varible?

For Clark and Carrol -
What you are doing when you list possible confounds on a variable, you are just listing cases that COULD screw-up your measurement. You don't THINK that those cases will happen, but they could. Good planing minimizes them. Here's an example. If you wanted to test which voice was more soothing, a male's or female's, a counfound could be that one of the voices that you are using is very nasal, or scratchy, and this would sway your subjects. Since, it's not the highness or lowness of the voice that's affecting the results, but some other quality, this is error. Another way to describe this error is to say that your variable has been confounded. Hope that helps.

Would it be ehtical to test the ability to retain information while under the influence of alcohol if all of the participants were of the legal drinking age and they were not administered lethal amounts of alcohol? And if this was considered ethical, could we use it for our paper?
I think it would be interesting to know the results of the procedure. I could manipulate the amount of alcohol given according to their size. I could give them some kind of test beforehand and then retest them after they were given the alcohol. Would this be allowed?
