When looking back at a t-statistic, can we go over another example before we are tested on how to do one?

How can one know exactly how to indentify whether or not to use a one-tailed or a two-tailed test.
Also, what is an F-test and when compared with a T-test what is the actual difference?

Could someone explain the difference between the t-test
and the f-test?

By Ray on Tuesday, November 25, 1997 - 02:17 pm:

Dr. Moreland's favorite little saying "t for two" can help define the difference between the t-test and f-test.
T-test tells whether two groups are different (significantly) and a F-test is for three or more groups.
On t-test, reject the null if you have a probability of .05 or less.

Someone help ME by helping me to understand calculating effect size.
