After our discussion of operationally defining your variables, I am still very confused on how to do it. Can someone please show me an example by providing a few variables and then operationally defining them?

Here's some variables and their operational definition.
How about noise level, and it could be operationally defined in decibels. Or, color of a gumball (our favorite example) could be measured in wavelength of the light that bounces off of it. Memory could be defined as the number of nonsense syllables remembered after a certain period of time passed. Here's a final one, intelligence, which could be defined as IQ, or score on the SAT, or score on a cognitive exercise that measures both math and verbal abliity. Hope that helps.
